I am in my last semester at Pittsburg State University and will receive a Bachelor of Science in Technology majoring in Commercial Graphics. I will graduate in May of this year.
I have extensive experience with the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Flash. I know and frequently use Mac OSX, but also know Windows XP, Vista, and 7 and have experience with the office suite on both systems. I also have web development experience using HTML, CSS, and Actionscript 3.0. In addition, I have a great deal of experience using CMS platforms such as WordPress and DotCMS.
Photography is an area of graphics that I am very passionate about. I have a great deal of experience using digital SLR cameras and am confident in manually manipulating camera settings and functions.
I currently work as a student Graphic Designer for the Pittsburg State University department of Continuing and Graduate Studies. There I layout ads for newspapers and magazine publications, as well as posters, books, brochures, cards, and many other items. I also assist in editing and creating content for our portion of the PSU website. I have taken pictures on many occasions for use in advertisements or on our website.
In my junior year I completed an internship at Ward/Kraft, Inc., a printer in Fort Scott, KS. There I worked in both the Wide Format division, and then with Research and Development. I worked with everything from page layout to 3D design and rendering. I created templates for the wide format printer and would frequently prepare files for large format output.
At PSU I participate in the marching band and for the past two years have been a section leader of around twenty trumpet players. I have learned valuable leadership skills from this experience. I had to learn how to handle different types of people in different situations, how to lead in a dynamic and sometimes hectic environment and still get the job done.
My aspirations are simply to help do great things in the graphics industry. I want to put my degree and my passion about graphics to use in a professional way. I do not see myself doing any one thing in particular; instead I see many possibilities and am excited to explore whatever opportunities arise.
